The Office of the Chief Justice is seeking a skilled and experienced Webmaster to join its Constitutional Court team in Braamfontein. This is a re-advertised vacancy, and candidates who applied previously are strongly encouraged to reapply. The role is central to managing and maintaining the organisation’s public-facing web presence, ensuring that the website remains secure, functional, user-friendly, and aligned with institutional standards. As Webmaster, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the website, as well as its long-term development and strategic improvement. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement upon appointment, reflecting the importance of accountability and measurable outcomes in this role.

Applicants must hold a National Diploma in Web Design, Computer Science, or a related qualification at NQF Level 6 with 360 credits, as recognised by SAQA. A minimum of three years of relevant working experience is required, along with a valid driver’s licence. A postgraduate qualification in Web Design, Computer Science, or a related field will be considered an added advantage. The ideal candidate will combine formal education with practical, hands-on experience in web development and maintenance, and will be comfortable working within a government or judicial environment where compliance and security are paramount.

The role demands a solid foundation in programming and web application development. You should have a strong understanding of how web applications work, including security protocols, session management, and current best development practices. Technical proficiency is expected in client-side technologies such as HTML5 and CSS, as well as content management systems, PHP, jQuery, and JSON. Familiarity with programming languages and technical terminology is essential, and knowledge of specific platforms such as Paure and CRV Dynamics is required. Experience with C, C++, Visual Basic, C#, Java, XML, Angular, and any business intelligence reporting tool will also be expected. A working knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation processes, relational database systems, and object-oriented programming principles is necessary. In addition to technical expertise, the successful candidate must be computer literate and possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with presentation, project management, planning, organising, analytical, technical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining website content and ensuring compliance with standard practices. You will uphold the quality, design, and style of the organisational website in line with the website style guide and policy. Website security and data protection are critical, and you will implement necessary measures and protocols to safeguard the platform. You will also maintain the web platform’s Security Validation Programme and databases, monitor site traffic, and resolve technical issues as they arise. A key part of the role is optimising site performance for search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo, as well as for AI harvesting. You will implement troubleshooting and optimisation strategies, keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply them to operations, training, and activities. You will also provide advice on new website designs and upgrade implementations, and attend to all administrative duties as directed by your supervisor.

This position is based at the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein and is graded at salary level 09. The organisation will give preference to candidates in line with its Employment Equity goals, and applicants should be aware that this is a re-advertisement, meaning that those who applied previously are welcome and encouraged to submit their applications again. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated web professional to contribute to the digital presence of a key judicial institution in South Africa.
