Performs tasks / activities associated with the collection and disposal of waste using heavy vehicles (refuse removal truck) and transporting personnel, collecting/delivering materials and communicating and clarifying requirements with respect to waste collection to ensure service delivery standards are maintained and productivity targets and deadlines achieved
Requirements
Grade 10 1 - 2 years’ relevant experience Code EC1 Driver’s License with PrDP Proficiency in at least two (2) of the official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans/ English /isiXhosa – Read, Write, Speak) High level of responsibility Ability to give attention to detail Must be physically fit and able bodied Required to work in all weather conditions Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime Must perform duties in the whole area of the municipality
Duties
Performs specific tasks / activities at the Depot prior to and on completion of allocated refuse removal assignments Completes internal procedural documentation (log sheet etc.) and related forms (vehicle checklist) Performs specific tasks associated with the operation of heavy vehicles (refuse removal trucks – compaction vehicles) during refuse removal activities Monitoring specific activities performed by general workers associated with maintaining the cleanliness of open spaces, streets and surroundings Monitors and supervises utilization, application and maintenance of machinery, equipment, tools and material to ensure optimal work performance Responsible for Health and Safety compliance with statutory regulations during tasks which include protocols and procedures in order to minimize any accidents, and injuries and to maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all Skills Development Responsible to take part in the Municipality’s Performance Management and Development System The competency level for this position is an Operational: Grade 2 Driver Competency Level 4 as stipulated in Annexure A of the Municipal Staff Regulations Government Notice R890 as promulgated in Government Gazette 45181 dated 20 September 2021 and comprises of the following competencies: Functional / Professional Public Service Personal Competencies Orientation Competencies Competencies ?
