    POST : SUPPLY CHAIN PRACTITIONER: TRAVEL AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (REFERENCE: OVG/2026/06)

    CONTRACT TYPE : Three (3) Year Fixed Term Contract

    SALARY : R427 154,35 per annum (Level 08) (plus 37% in lieu of benefits)

    DUTIES:

    Process travel requests, and management of travel arrangements, accommodation reservations and bookings and Conferencing. Maintain accurate Travel management register. Receipting of travel management services. Ensures compliance with SCM processes in travel management. Implement logistical processes, including generation of Purchase Orders, scheduling, and while ensuring strict compliance with Supply Chain Management procedures travel management standards. Process purchase orders, travel management and mobile communication i.e. cell phones and data cards. Liaison with service providers as and when required.

    Requirements

    Formal Qualifications: Minimum National N Diploma or National Diploma Tourism management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Cost Accounting management and Logistics Management. Job-Related Work Experience : At least 5 years collective experience in Travel management services or logistics management dealing with travel bookings, payment of travel, conferencing. Understanding of public sector/ government procurement process or supply chain management processes, innovation, business operations and requirements. Extensive Experience in Travel management services. Understanding of Treasury regulations, PFMA and other legislative procedures. Job Related Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of: Government priorities and imperatives. Travel management systems and regulations. The PFMA and regulations, and other relevant legislation – e.g., Treasury regulations 16A, Access to Information Act, Treasury Regulations, the Public Service Act, the Labour Relations Act. Relevant legislation and regulatory requirements namely PFMA, Treasury Regulations. Ability in both verbal and written communications skills. Knowledge of standards for risk and compliance. All Public Service systems. Computer literate. Other (advantageous) : Extensive on job experience in the travel management bookings systems and Knowledge and ability to work extended long hours. All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the OVG. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment in compliance with the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) Directive on the Implementation of Competency Based Assessments. The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. Shortlisted candidates will be required to be available for assessments and interviews at a date and time as determined by the OVG. All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to personnel suitability checks, and the successful candidate will have to undergo full security vetting. The OVG may conduct reference checks which will include social media profiles of the shortlisted candidates.
