ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS (Relevant proof / documentation and relevant completed application form must accompany application. No late submissions will be accepted) • Basic Literacy (Grade 3) • Proficient in at least 2 of the 3 official languages of the Western Cape • Minimum 0 - 1 years’ relevant experience • Must be physically fit and able bodied with the ability to load & carry weights of ±20kg • Required to work in all weather conditions • Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime • Must be able to work in confined spaces • Good teamwork and communication skills • Technical knowledge of machines and tools, uses and operating maintenance PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS • Grade 8 (AET Level 3) • Heavy Machine Operator Certificate • 1 year’s relevant experience in civil construction COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Oral communication • Managing work • Quality orientation • Service delivery orientation • Workplace Safety • Planning and Organizing • Operation and Control • Quality Control Analysis KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS • Perform tasks associated with maintenance, operations and minor construction of tar roads, streets, gravel roads, bridges, sidewalks and stormwater systems • Preparing and applying sealants (bitumen mix) to tarred surfaces using handheld sprayers • Clean and remove blockages, debris and alien vegetation from drainage systems • Operate small plant machinery to break, crush and compact road surfaces • Using hand tools and equipment to excavate defined areas • Cleans worksites, stores equipment and tools and loads materials prior to departure from work site • Mixing and laying of concrete and compacting surfaces • Control and maintain auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors and operators • Formal and Informal reporting • Receive prescribed concrete mix from supervisor • Formal and Informal reporting SALARY SCALE: All-inclusive total package of ±R236 664.88 – R286 082.17 per annum. Benefits e.g. medical aid scheme, pension fund, life scheme, 13th cheque included. BASIC SALARY: R145 212.96 – R183 168.12 per annum (T4)
