POST NAME : SENIOR TECHNICIAN: PROTECTION (ELECTRICAL NETWORKS) x 1

EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT : PERMANENT
SALARY SCALE : R 398, 590.00 – R 517, 397.00 PER ANNUM (PLUS BENEFITS)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Matric.
• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or any relevant qualification at NQF 6.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering will be an added advantage.
• At least 5 years work-related experience in Electricity Network Protection of MV/LV Networks.
• Valid registration with ECSA as a Professional Technician.
• Must have Level 10 ORHVS (Regulation to work on High Voltage networks) and must have Level 2/ intermediate level of certification certificate assessment
certificate in Protection & Direct Current environment to be able to apply and interpret standards and procedures.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREARS ( Include but not limited to):
• Coordinating maintenance activities and plans with respect to the Network Protection of the Plant and the execution thereof within planned parameters in accordance with Protection and DC operating standards.
• Analyse substation drawings and do protection scheme modifications and updates when required as per protection and DC operating standards.
• Diagnose faults and Repair Protection and DC equipment in accordance with electrical standard operating procedures and manuals by performing standby duties on a scheduled basis.
• Apply fault-finding techniques as well as innovative ideas, logic and novel approaches to determine the cause of the failure and execute customer and special investigations.
• Valid Driver’s License.

• Restores and integrates the equipment to functional status by coordinating Protection software and equipment configurations ( relay setting configurations).
• Perform outage management coordination and planning.
