To plan, coordinate, supervise and manage the operations, maintenance and development of municipal parks, gardens, open spaces, cemeteries (where applicable), recreational facilities and horticultural services to ensure aesthetically pleasing, safe and sustainable public spaces.
Requirements
National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Parks and Recreation Management, Horticulture, Arboriculture, Landscape Technology, Landscape Management, Nature Conservation, Environmental Management, Agriculture (Horticultural Specialisation). Five (5) to eight (8) years' relevant experience in parks, horticulture, landscaping, environmental services or municipal open space management. Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years' supervisory or management experience. Valid Code B driver's licence.
Duties
Plan, coordinate and supervise the maintenance and development of municipal parks, landscape areas, open spaces, recreational facilities, cemeteries, swimming pools and sports fields. Manage horticultural, landscaping and grounds maintenance operations. Supervise staff, contractors, vehicles, plant and equipment. Develop and implement operational work programmes and maintenance schedules. Monitor irrigation systems, tree management, landscaping projects and buildings. Prepare and manage operational budgets, resource allocation and capital budgets. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, environmental legislation and municipal Policies, by laws and NEMA Regulations. Manage performance, productivity and development of staff. Monitor service delivery standards and respond to public enquiries and complaints. Compile operational reports and maintain accurate records. Promote sustainable environmental management and efficient utilisation of municipal resources.
