The Residential Operations Division invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
The Division
Housekeeping Services deals with the cleanliness and hygiene of the university residences, departments, and all the ancillary services. This includes Transit Housing, Janitoring Services, Laundry Services, Messengering, Stores, Sewing Room and Upholstery Services.
The Housekeeping Services department exists mainly to provide a complete hospitality experience to our students and guests. We are committed to providing support to all areas in our care, to enhance the academic project at Rhodes University. This is an in-house staffed Division who are proud to be part of providing a conducive and effective teaching and academic learning environment
Main Objective
Cleaning of areas assigned by the Housekeeping or Manager: Housekeeping Services. To assist the housekeepers within the hall, which includes coordination, decision-making, weekend responsibilities, team leadership, and any other duties assigned to you by the supervisor.
The Requirements
Grade 12 with approximately 1 year’s relevant experience, where such relevant experience includes:
- Previous experience working in an industrial or domestic cleaning environment.
- Previous experience with coordinating staff and work schedules will be advantageous.
- Exposure to an administrative environment with basic computer skills and stock control.

Remuneration per annum (Grade 6):
Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R 212 178
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R 304 932
