The Senior Provisioning Administration Officer for Inventory Management is a key logistics role based at the National Head Office of the Department, operating within the Logistics directorate. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of movable assets and inventory, from initial receipt and registration through to allocation, verification, and eventual disposal. As a senior officer, the incumbent will ensure that all asset-related records are accurate, up to date, and compliant with relevant legislation and financial frameworks. The role is situated in a centralised environment where effective inventory control directly supports the broader public service mandate, and it requires close collaboration with inventory holders, internal units, and external stakeholders to maintain accountability and operational efficiency.

Candidates must possess a relevant Degree or National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or an equivalent qualification, complemented by three to five years of relevant working experience. Computer literacy and a valid driver’s licence are essential. The ideal applicant will have a solid working knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999, Treasury Regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP), and other applicable mandates and legislation. Familiarity with asset administration, the LOGIS system, and project management principles is also required. In terms of personal attributes, the role demands strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with excellent customer relations and interpersonal abilities. The successful candidate should be customer-oriented, outgoing, reliable, honest, and able to work effectively within a team while building strong professional relationships. A working knowledge of MS Office packages is necessary for day-to-day reporting and record-keeping.

The core duties of this position are centred on ensuring that all inventory and assets are accurately captured in the asset management register. This includes receiving all movable assets, allocating them to the appropriate inventory holders, and recording asset information on the inventory holder’s room list. The officer must also ensure that asset verification and logistical processes are carried out correctly, including conducting the annual asset verification and managing asset disposal procedures. Reconciliation between the Basic Accounting System (BAS) and LOGIS is a critical responsibility, as is the administration of asset depreciation and reconciliation. Additionally, the role involves the management of performance information, human resources, finance, and assets within the unit, making it a multifaceted position that requires both administrative rigour and leadership capability.

This appointment is made under the Public Service Act, and the post is advertised through the Public Service vacancy circular. Interested applicants should note that the selection process will consider the competencies and experience outlined above, and the role is based at the National Head Office. Enquiries may be directed to the named contact persons at the head office, but all applications must be submitted through the prescribed online channel as indicated in the advertisement.
