The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is seeking a Senior Organisational Development Practitioner within its Strategy, Operations and Compliance division, specifically in the Human Resource Management and Development component's Organisational Development unit. Based at the NPA Head Office in Pretoria, this re-advertised position is central to helping the organisation improve its structural efficiency, business processes and overall performance. The practitioner will work in a public service environment that demands deep knowledge of organisational design frameworks, government regulations and change management practices.
To be considered, applicants must hold an appropriate B Degree at NQF Level 7, or a three-year Diploma at NQF Level 6, in Management Services, Operations Management, Production Management or a related field such as Industrial Psychology. At least two years of practical experience in organisational design, development or work-study is required. The NPA looks for candidates who can act independently, professionally, accountably and with credibility. Knowledge of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, the NPA Act, and various DPSA directives and circulars relating to organisational development and change management is essential, as is a good grasp of human resource management and labour relations. Familiarity with the job evaluation process, business process management, total quality management and project management principles is also expected. Candidates should be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as Bizagi Process Modeller. Strong project management, communication, presentation, report writing and people management skills are vital, along with knowledge of the Compensate-Evaluate job evaluation system and a valid driver's licence.
The role's main duties involve undertaking work-study investigations within the NPA, conducting job evaluation exercises, and compiling and reviewing job descriptions. The practitioner will also map business processes and optimise work procedures, workflows and standard operating procedures to enhance productivity. Administrative duties related to organisational development round out the responsibilities.
This is a Level 08 position. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security clearance of at least confidential, and appointment will be provisional until the clearance is issued. On the day of the interview, fingerprints will be taken, and the social media accounts of shortlisted applicants may be accessed as part of verification. All shortlisted candidates must complete pre-entry assessments, including a practical exercise and an integrity assessment. The NPA does not pay resettlement costs. If applicants have foreign qualifications, they must obtain a SAQA evaluation report before appointment. The NPA reserves the right not to fill the post. This context makes the role suitable for an experienced organisational development professional who thrives in a structured, compliance-driven public service environment.
