Requirements
LECTURER:An Honours degree in Accountancy (NQF level 8).A member of CIMA or SAIPA or ACCA or AGA(SA).3 years’ experience in the field as an Accountant.5 years’ fulltime teaching experience at an accredited contact institution.In addition to the aboveSENIOR LECTURER:A Master of Commerce in Accountancy or equivalent (NQF level 9).RECOMMENDATION:Postgraduate supervision experience at Master’s level.KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of accountancy including accounting, auditing, management accounting, financial management and taxation.Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.Interest in community service.Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:Professional and ethical behaviour.Adaptability / Agility. PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONSenior Lecturer / Lecturer: Provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Teaching and Learning Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies, ensuring required throughput and achieving student-lecturer evaluation scores in accordance with the university’s expectations.ResearchResearch outputs as to be discussed with programme leader and deputy director. Community EngagementActively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the School of Accounting Sciences.
