Requirements
FOR LECTURER Qualifications An NQF level 9 qualification with Haematology as a major. Experience At least two years’ working experience in teaching at an academic institution At least two years’ experience in supervision of undergraduate students at tertiary institution Skills Knowledge of appropriate teaching methods in Haematology Knowledge of appropriate assessment methods in Haematology Knowledge in coordination of module(s) Ability to work with students Computer literacy strong written and oral communication skills The following are not minimum requirement but will serve as an advantage Registration with the HPCSA will serve as an advantage A teaching qualification will serve as an advantage One SAPSE accredited publication in Haematalogy FOR SENIOR LECTURER Qualifications An NQF level 10 qualification with Haematology as a major. Experience At least three years’ working experience in teaching at an academic institution. At least two years’ experience in supervision of postgraduate students at tertiary institution. At least five SAPSE accredited publications in Haematology. Skills Knowledge of appropriate teaching methods in Haematology Knowledge of appropriate assessment methods in Haematology Knowledge in coordination of module(s) Ability to work with students strong written and oral communication skills Strong Research Skills The following are not minimum requirement but will serve as an advantage Registration with the HPCSA will serve as an advantage A teaching qualification will serve as an advantage
Duties
Give lectures in all haematology modules and haematology sections of other modules Coordinate Haematology modules Moderation of Haematology modules Give practical sessions in Haematology Supervise undergraduate students in the department and other programmes Participate in departmental research. Develop teaching/Research manuscripts for publication Participate departmental committees Give lectures in all haematology modules and haematology sections of other modules Coordinate Haematology modules Moderation of Haematology modules Give practical sessions in Haematology Supervise postgraduate and undergraduate research in the department and other programmes Develop own individual and or group research and apply for research funding Participate in Participate in departmental and interdepartmental research.
