This permanent position of Senior Administration Officer for Supply Chain Management, with a specific focus on assets, sits within the Directorate of Supply Chain Management of the Department of Health and Wellness. The role is central to ensuring that the department maintains a credible and accurate asset register, which is a cornerstone of sound financial governance and accountability in the public sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full asset management lifecycle, from recording movements and labelling assets to reconciling financial systems and preparing disclosures for the Annual Financial Statements.

The core duties require the officer to ensure all asset movements are correctly recorded and that asset information is accurately reflected on the department's asset management systems. This includes performing monthly BAS and LOGIS reconciliations, as well as lease reconciliations, and processing journals to correct any discrepancies. The role also involves preparing asset-related financial reports, including Annual Financial Statement disclosures, and managing and coordinating asset control processes such as annual asset verification and asset disposals. In addition, the officer must complete all IFS and AFS financial year-end documentation. Beyond the technical financial functions, the position carries supervisory responsibilities, which include identifying asset management training needs within the team and managing the performance and development of staff.

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess an appropriate three-year National Diploma or Degree. They need appropriate experience in an asset management environment, appropriate experience with the LOGIS system, and appropriate supervisory experience. A valid driver's licence in one of the categories EB, B, C, or C1 is an inherent requirement of the job. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, and the Accounting Officer's System of the Department of Health and Wellness, including delegations. Extensive knowledge of the LOGIS system and asset management principles is essential. Good organisational, management, and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required, along with computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This is a demanding but rewarding role for an experienced administration professional who is detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high standards of public financial management. The position offers an annual salary with service benefits, including a 13th cheque, employer's contribution to a pension fund, and housing and medical aid allowances. Interested applicants may direct their enquiries to the named contact person for the vacancy. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in asset management and logistics information systems who is ready to take on supervisory responsibility within a government health department.
