The Senior Administration Officer: Coordinator position sits within the Non-Communicable Diseases and Support Services directorate at the National Head Office, providing essential administrative leadership to a unit focused on public health support. This is a Public Service Act appointment, meaning the successful candidate will operate within the formal government administrative framework. The role is much more than routine clerical work: it is a coordinating hub for the directorate’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that procurement, travel, leave, meetings, and financial administration run smoothly and in line with public service regulations. The coordinator acts as a bridge between officials, service providers, and management, so strong liaison and facilitation skills are central to the position.

To be considered, applicants need a recognised three-year degree or national diploma in Office Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field, combined with three to five years of relevant experience in office administration. Computer literacy is essential, as is a valid driver’s licence. Beyond these formal requirements, the role demands a particular set of competencies: the ability to facilitate and coordinate multiple activities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound planning and organising abilities, and strong report writing. Analytical thinking and rational decision making are also important, along with professionalism, integrity, creativity, and innovative thinking. These attributes are not merely desirable; they are necessary for handling the varied responsibilities and for interacting with internal and external role players in a credible and effective manner.

The duties are broad and hands-on. The coordinator will facilitate the procurement of goods and services for the directorate, which includes receiving requests from officials, obtaining quotations from service providers, and ensuring that purchasing processes are followed correctly. Travel arrangements for directorate staff also fall under this role, requiring coordination with officials and service providers. Administrative management is another core area: the coordinator administers the leave register, maintains the duty and leave register, checks and submits leave applications, and handles other administrative activities that keep the office functioning. Organising and coordinating meetings is a further responsibility, from scheduling to ensuring that logistics are in place. Financial administration is equally significant, with duties that include administering and consolidating the allocation of funds, assisting in the management of state funds under supervision, and estimating and budgeting for the directorate’s requirements. The coordinator also contributes to the management of performance information, human resources, finance, and assets, making this a role that touches on nearly every aspect of directorate operations.

This position is based at the National Head Office and offers an opportunity to work within a directorate dedicated to non-communicable diseases and support services. Enquiries for this vacancy are directed to the named contact officials at the National Head Office, and interested candidates should note that the appointment will be made in accordance with the Public Service Act. The role is suited to an organised, proactive professional who can manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, and support the directorate’s broader mission through efficient administration and coordination.
