The Government Printing Works is offering a 24-month graduate internship programme at its East London regional warehouse, with two positions available in the sales stream. This placement forms part of the GPW's Graduate Programme for the 2027/2029 financial year and aims to provide unemployed South African graduates with structured work exposure in a real public-sector logistics and warehousing environment. Interns will be based in the East London regional warehouse and will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience that aligns with their academic background in operations, supply chain or related fields. The GPW is a key state organisation responsible for printing and distributing government documents, so the programme offers practical insight into how public-sector supply chains and warehouse sales functions operate.

Applicants must hold a National Diploma or degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or Public Administration. No previous work experience is required, but candidates must be South African citizens and must be unemployed at the time of application. A strict condition is that applicants must not have previously participated in any internship programme; failing to disclose such participation will result in the immediate termination of the internship contract on grounds of dishonesty. This is an entry-level graduate opportunity intended for first-time interns.

The core responsibilities of the interns will be to take an active part in workplace activities, assist with projects, and join capacity-building initiatives under the supervision of experienced mentors. They will receive structured training and exposure directly related to their placement area, which means day-to-day involvement in the regional warehouse's sales, logistics, and operational functions. This practical experience is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical study and the demands of professional practice in the public service.

Several special conditions and administrative requirements apply. Shortlisted candidates will only need to submit certified copies of qualifications and other relevant documents on or before the day of the interview, and any foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority. Personnel suitability checks will be carried out as part of the selection process, and successful candidates will be required to sign an employment contract and a performance agreement. By responding to the advertisement, applicants consent to the collection, processing and storage of their personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, and the information will only be used for the recruitment process. Candidates who do not receive a response within three months of the closing date should consider their applications unsuccessful. The GPW reserves the right to fill or not fill the advertised posts.
