Requirements
Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as an Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of RSA qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of SA qualified employees. A Minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the as a Diagnostic Radiographer in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Inherent requirements of the job: Will be required to perform after-hours and night duties, including weekends and Public Holidays. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge and experience of theatre, mobile, fluoroscopy and general radiography, computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Appropriate experience in a busy general department with knowledge of radiation protection, quality assurance and equipment safety pertaining to radiography. Knowledge of Patient Archiving and Communication Systems. Computer literacy (MS Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Good interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure and independently and in a team.
Duties
Be responsible for the provision of a patient-centred radiographic imaging service over a 24-hour period, including risk management. Identify and perform the most appropriate diagnostic images of high quality, be responsible for self- development as well as training of staff and students. Ensure optimal care of equipment, quality assurance and use of suitable radiation protection. Provide support to the Chief and Assistant Director regarding day to day activities.
