Professor in Curriculum and Education Studies

A Doctoral degree (NQF level 10) in Curriculum and Education Studies or in a relevant discipline  At least 9 years of working experience in either teaching, lecturing, research, or Industry (in the relevant field or discipline). Evidence of current and sustained research publication of independent research in quality scientific journals (31 - 40), appropriate for the level.  Evidence of sustained and successful attraction of external research grants. A sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levels (5 years), appropriate for the level.  Evidence of national and international recognition in a research area within the discipline.  Evidence of strong and sustained academic leadership within the Department / School/ College/ University, which includes mentorship and coaching (5 years). This appointment will be made in line with the University Guidelines/benchmarks, which are available on the University Vacancies website at http://vacancies.ukzn.ac.za/Academic-Process-Proc-Guides.aspx The closing date for receipt of applications is 23 July 2026 All applicants are required to apply online on the Career Portal, https://ukzn.ci.hr/applicant/index.php  Kindly note that the University of KwaZulu-Natal (“the University”) is required to process any Personal Information (as defined by the Protection of Personal Act, 2013 “POPIA”) submitted by candidates when applying for positions at the University. We are committed to offering teacher education that is appropriate to both national and global contexts, of a high quality, and accessible to a diverse range of students. The School of Education seeks to employ a dedicated individual who will co-ordinate and lecture modules in Curriculum and Education Studies, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise and assess undergraduate teaching practice, and will supervise postgraduate students. The position requires an academic who is willing to engage with curriculum development and delivery and who will play a leading role in teaching and research in the Curriculum and Education Studies discipline. The incumbent will report to the Head of Discipline
