    Requirements

    B-Eng or B-Sc Degree in Electrical Engineering or B-Tech degree in Electrical Engineering ECSA registered as a Candidate Professional Engineer or Candidate Professional Engineering Technologist Minimum of 3-5 years post graduate technical experience with exposure to electrical distribution equipment and electrical distribution infrastructure. Emphasis and knowledge relating to MV distribution switchgear, transformers, miniature substations, substation ancillary equipment, MV underground cable, LV cable & wires, LV distribution equipment and overhead standards. Basic knowledge of power system engineering and related disciplines and of the theoretical and practical aspects of electrical distribution equipment and technologies and of related standards. Valid code B driver’s licence. A high degree of computer literacy. Skills required: Basic project management skills. Basic knowledge of safety legislation and practice. Good communication and negotiation skills. Good report writing skills. Basic financial analysis expertise. Good problem-solving skills. Special conditions may include: Required to work in all weather conditions. Required to work outside normal working hours as demanded by the exigencies of the service. Required to use own transport for which an appropriate transport allowance will be payable.

    Duties

    Research, introduce, and apply new technologies and standards for electricity distribution equipment. Assess equipment needs, evaluate design options, and support integration with operational teams and contractors.
