A) POST: PROFESSIONAL NURSE: SPECIALTY [PN-B1] GRADE 1–2 SESSIONAL APPOINTMENTS: MAXIMUM OF 20 SESSIONS PER WEEK PER PN (1 SESSION = 1 HOUR) CENTRES: CAPRICORN: Pietersburg Hospital, Mankweng Hospital MOPANI: Letaba Hospital SEKHUKHUNE: St Ritas Hospital, Philadelphia Hospital VHEMBE: Tshilidzini Hospital WATERBERG: Mokopane Hospital SPECIALTY DISCIPLINES: • Operational Theatre, Critical Care Adult (ICU), Child Nursing (Paediatrics), Child Critical Care Nursing (ICU), Trauma, Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Renal, Paediatric / Child Nursing. REMUNERATION: Sessional remuneration will be based on appropriate/recognisable experience after registration with the SANC as determined by Sessional rates approved by DPSA. . Sessional Rates: Grade 1: R327.00, Grade 2: R401.00 INHERENT REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications and Experience: • A minimum of Basic R425 qualification, i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. • A post-basic nursing qualification in one of the above-mentioned specialty nursing areas with a minimum duration of one [1] year accredited with SANC in the relevant specialty, except for Neonatal ICU nursing. • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse in the appropriate specialty. • Grade 1: A minimum of four [4] years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. • Grade 2: A minimum of fourteen [14] years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing, of which ten [10] years must be appropriate experience in the relevant specialty after obtaining the post-basic qualification. • Willingness to work shifts, flexi-hours, weekends, public holidays and overtime when required. Sessional Rates: Grade 1: R223.00, Grade 2: R272.00, Grade 3: R327.00 INHERENT REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications and Experience: • A minimum of Basic R425 qualification, i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. • Grade 1: Less than three [3] years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration with SANC as Professional Nurse. • Grade 2: A minimum of ten [10] years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. • Grade 3: A minimum of twenty [20] years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. • South African citizen or permanent resident. • Willingness and ability to work shifts/flexi-hours, including night duty, weekends and public holidays. Knowledge and Skills • Knowledge of nursing care processes, maternity care procedures and relevant legal frameworks. • Sound knowledge of maternal, antenatal, postnatal and neonatal care. • Good clinical and communication skills. • Ability to work under pressure and apply infection prevention and control principles. • Application of Batho Pele Principles. • Computer literacy. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Provide comprehensive nursing and midwifery care in accordance with applicable legislation, policies and nursing standards. • Render maternal, antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and neonatal care services. • Participate in implementation of maternal and child health programmes. • Maintain constructive working relationships within the multidisciplinary healthcare team. • Utilise human, material and physical resources efficiently and effectively. • Provide health education and counselling to patients and communities. • Assist with training and mentoring of junior nurses and nursing students rotating within the facility.
