    Requirements

    Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as Professional nurse with the SANC in General nursing with midwifery plus a post basic nursing qualification with duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice No. R212 in the specialty of Perioperative nursing. Current (2026) SANC license to practice.

    Duties

    Provide optimal, holistic, specialized nursing care with set standards and within a professional/legal framework. Effective utilization of resources. Participate in training and research. Provide support to nursing services. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Ensure compliance with infection control principles and waste management guidelines. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to lead in shift. Flexibility towards departmental needs. Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team. Managing administration functions. Ability to utilize resources effectively, staff development and PMDS. Ensure compliance with the Ideal Hospital Realization Framework. Communication and problem-solving skills and accurate data collection. To assist in planning/organizing and monitoring of the objectives of the specialized unit (Maternity unit). To provide a therapeutic environment for staff, patients and the public. To provide comprehensive, quality nursing care as a member of the multi-disciplinary team according to the identified needs of the patient, based on scientific principles. To delegate duties and support the team in the execution of patient care delivery. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Relieve in other words when necessary. Must be willing to workday and night shifts.
