POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN NURSING (SPECIALTY PROGRAMMES).

This is a training opportunity offered by the Limpopo Department of Health for professional nurses who wish to specialise through a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing. To be considered, applicants must hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a four-year diploma in terms of Regulation R.425, or a Diploma in General Nursing plus Midwifery. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse and Midwife is essential, as is a minimum of two years’ experience as a registered nurse or midwife. Having at least two years of experience in the intended area of specialisation will strengthen an application, as will the ability to secure admission to a recognised university offering the relevant postgraduate diploma programme.

The core responsibility of candidates is to pursue the academic and clinical components of the diploma. This means applying independently to accredited universities and managing their own admission process; the department will not intervene in university applications, admission decisions, or confirmation of placement. Candidates are also responsible for all logistical and financial arrangements, including tuition or registration fees, accommodation, travel, subsistence, and any other personal or study-related costs. The department provides no financial support beyond the stipend mentioned in the vacancy.

Appointment is subject to a training agreement and departmental deployment requirements after completion.
