The Limpopo Department of Health is advertising seven positions for Personnel Practitioners in Human Resource Management, spread across six hospitals in the province. The posts are based at Witpoort, Siloam, Seshego, Nkhensani, Mokopane, and Helene Franz Hospitals, with two posts allocated to Siloam and one to each of the other facilities. These roles are central to the daily functioning of the hospital HR units, ensuring that all employee-related administrative processes are handled accurately, fairly, and in line with public service legislation and departmental policies. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced HR professionals who wish to apply their skills within a public health environment and contribute to the wellbeing of healthcare staff and, ultimately, patient care.

Candidates must hold a National Senior Certificate or Grade 12, as well as an undergraduate qualification in Human Resource Management, Public Administration or Management, or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority. A minimum of three years of relevant experience within an HR management environment is required, along with competence in core HR practices. Computer literacy is essential, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with virtual meeting platforms. A PERSAL certificate or training is considered a strong advantage, as is a thorough working knowledge of PERSAL. Applicants must also possess a valid driver’s licence, although this requirement is waived for people with disabilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a sound understanding of the Public Service Act, 1994, the Public Service Regulations, 2016, and departmental HR policies, together with good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

The duties of the successful incumbents are varied and require meticulous attention to detail. They will process applications for employment, appointment, termination of services, resettlement, transfers, and performance management. They will also handle matters relating to medical aid, housing subsidies, and injuries sustained on duty. Further responsibilities include the processing of leave gratuities and pension benefits, as well as supervising and training subordinate staff. Personnel Practitioners will also monitor the validity of drivers’ licences within the department and manage the licensing of government vehicles, ensuring that all regulatory and administrative requirements are met. These functions require a proactive, organised approach and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a busy hospital environment.

Applicants should note that this is a government position with specific conditions of employment. All applications must be submitted online through the designated provincial e-recruitment portal, and must include a fully completed, signed new Z83 form along with a comprehensive curriculum vitae. Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA, and shortlisted candidates will be required to attend interviews and produce certified copies of their qualifications, identity documents, and any relevant registration. The selection process may also include practical exercises and integrity assessments as part of the broader competency-based evaluation. The Department of Health encourages suitably qualified individuals to apply, and all appointments will be made in line with the department’s employment equity commitments. These positions offer a stable public service career and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to human resource management within Limpopo’s health sector.
