This permanent position for a Personnel Officer in Employee Sourcing offers an opportunity to join the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services within the Southern/Western Sub-structure Office. The successful candidate will become part of a dedicated team responsible for the full administrative cycle of recruitment and selection, ensuring that the health department attracts and appoints suitable staff in an efficient, transparent, and confidential manner. The role is central to the smooth running of the employee sourcing section, supporting both supervisors and managers in navigating internal recruitment systems and procedures. With two posts available, this is a substantive role that requires a detail-oriented individual who can handle a high volume of tasks while maintaining accuracy and discretion.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have a Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification, along with appropriate experience in recruitment and selection. This practical experience should demonstrate familiarity with advertising vacancies, processing applications, and supporting interview processes. In addition, the ideal candidate will be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, the e-Recruitment system, and PERSAL. The ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and uphold strict confidentiality is essential. Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are also required, as the role involves liaising with various role players and functioning effectively both independently and as part of a team. Accuracy and thoroughness in executing duties are critical, given the administrative and verification responsibilities involved.

The duties of the post are wide-ranging and include performing all administrative tasks pertaining to the employee sourcing section. This involves assisting with the compilation of advertisements, capturing adverts on the e-Recruitment system and the SCUBED system, and managing the logistical arrangements for all advertised posts. The officer will also be responsible for verifying documents, processing transfers, and handling general correspondence and enquiries. Secretarial duties before, during, and after interviewing processes form a key part of the job, as does liaising with relevant role players regarding recruitment and selection matters. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with drafting motivations and submissions, maintain and update databases, and provide effective support to supervisors and managers, particularly in using the e-Recruitment system.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo a practical, written, and oral assessment as part of the selection process. The post is a permanent appointment, offering an annual salary supplemented by service benefits such as a 13th cheque, employer contributions to a pension fund, and housing and medical aid allowances. Applicants should note that no payment of any kind is required when applying for this vacancy, and all enquiries should be directed to the named contact person. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled administrative professional with a background in recruitment to contribute meaningfully to the public health sector.
