    Remuneration

    Duties (key result areas/outputs)

    Supervise, plan and implement the provision of effective and efficient patient care in the Emergency Centre. Participate in analysis, formulation and implementation of the nursing guidelines, practices, standards mandatory procedures. Provide effective leadership and management of People management, financial and physical resources to ensure optimal operational functions. Supervise, plan and implement the provision of effective and efficient infection control measures. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards, self-development and participate in inter-professional and multidisciplinary teamwork. Support to Supervisor and Management.

    Registration with a professional council

    Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.

    Minimum educational qualification

    Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency or 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post graduate diploma (R635) accredited in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Nursing (Adult).

    Competencies (knowledge/skills)

    Knowledge of legal framework and regulations regarding nursing practice. Good leadership and people management skills maintain constructive relationships with members of the multi-disciplinary team. Computer literacy and basic financial management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated, possess excellent interpersonal skills, leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team and independently.

    Experience

    A minimum of 9 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in the relevant specialty.

    Inherent requirements of the job

    Work night duty on a planned schedule to relief the night manager. Willingness to work overtime, weekends and public holidays.
