The Department of Employment and Labour is advertising three Office Aid positions at its Labour Centres in Phalaborwa, Lebowakgomo, and Carletonville. These are entry-level support roles within the provincial operations structure, contributing to the smooth day-to-day functioning of each centre. The successful candidates will play a key part in maintaining a professional, clean, and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking to begin a career in the public service and who take pride in supporting essential administrative and operational functions.

To be considered, applicants must have a minimum of Standard 8 / Grade 10. While no formal work experience is specified, candidates should possess practical knowledge of cleaning practices, catering, and office practice. Strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication, and listening abilities are essential, as the role involves working closely with colleagues, supervisors, and potentially members of the public. The ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and carry out tasks reliably is also important for success in this position.

The main duties of the Office Aid include ensuring that the office environment is kept clean at all times. This involves routine cleaning tasks, tidying workspaces, and upholding hygiene standards throughout the premises. The role also provides food service aid, meaning the incumbent will assist with the preparation and serving of refreshments or meals during official functions, meetings, and staff events. Additionally, the Office Aid will assist in distributing stock, such as office supplies and materials, ensuring that items are properly stored, tracked, and issued as needed. Messenger functions are another key responsibility, involving the delivery of documents, parcels, or messages within and outside the office, as well as other errands that support the efficient operation of the labour centre.

These positions are subject to the department’s employment equity targets. For the Phalaborwa and Lebowakgomo Labour Centres, priority will be given to African Male, Coloured Male, Coloured Female, Indian Male, White Male, and White Female candidates. For the Carletonville Labour Centre, priority will be given to African males, Indian males, and White males. Applicants should note that these are three separate posts, each with its own reference number and location, so it is important to apply for the specific post that matches the desired centre. The full advertisement provides details on the application procedure, including the relevant contact persons for enquiries, as well as the closing date. Interested candidates are encouraged to review the requirements carefully and submit their applications through the prescribed channels before the deadline.
