Requirements
Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist. Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist. One-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist. Minimum of 11-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist. Minimum of 21-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of providing intervention for clients with mental health challenges. Knowledge of applicable health legislation, relevant acts, policies and procedures. Understanding of evidence- based practice and knowledge of PSR model in a Mental health environment. Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Duties
Provide evidence based Clinical Service within a Mental health setting in accordance with prescribed requirements and protocols. Conduct assessments and implement treatments plans within allocated areas. Administration related to clinical service delivery. Ensure effective resource management and general administration tasks. Student supervision and training. Management of events and projects advocating for mental health services.
