The role is central to supporting the daily care and wellbeing of patients in a psychiatric setting, contributing to a safe, therapeutic and dignified environment. As a Nursing Assistant, you will work under the direct and indirect supervision of Registered Nurses, performing structured tasks within the legal and professional boundaries of the Enrolled Nursing Assistant scope of practice. The main duties involve providing elementary clinical nursing practice in line with nursing standards, assisting patients with physical care and hygiene needs, and implementing nursing care plans. You will be expected to deliver quality nursing care through adherence to policies, procedures and infection prevention protocols, while ensuring the effective utilisation of resources. Maintaining accurate and complete patient records is a key responsibility, as is providing health education to patients, families and the community within your scope of practice. The role also includes escorting patients to other hospitals, maintaining client satisfaction through Batho Pele Principles, and participating in Continuous Professional Development to support your own professional growth and ethical standards.
