The Messaging (Exchange) and Productivity Engineer role is to manage the Hybrid Exchange environment and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure Exchange provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. At least 3-5 years’ experience in Modern/Cloud Platforms. Azure/M365 Certification desirable. ITIL V3 Certification. COBIT 5 Certifications. Microsoft Exchange Online /Hybrid. Microsoft Teams Platform. Virtualisation (VMware and Hyper-V). Cloud networking technologies, particularly in M365 and Azure. Internal operating system technology, Azure cloud and computer operations. Architecting and designing technical solutions for Cloud-centric solutions based on industry standards using AWS/Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS capabilities. Client Server/Windows servers and multi-platform client network management. Cloud network resources, solutions, industry best practices, and standard ports and protocols. Deploy and configure complex M365 cloud resources. Troubleshoot and isolate network and access failures. Use performance monitoring solutions and interpret results.
Duties
Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for Exchange-based messaging and collaboration solutions in conjunction with end- users and department managers. Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement Exchange systems that utilise industry best practices to meet enterprise objectives. Install, configure and initiate Microsoft Exchange servers, software and any required equipment. Perform all tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements regarding Exchange-based messaging and collaboration availability and security; including those involving user accounts, shared folders/calendars, mailing lists, and Outlook Web Access. Implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure Exchange server security through secure access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations. Manage Exchange database(s), antivirus applications, messaging filtering, and error log tracking. Recommend, schedule, and perform software patches, upgrades, and/or purchases. Ensure that Exchange server implementations comply with policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines. Remain informed on laws, trends, and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices related to Exchange and e-messaging. Perform message archiving, retrieval, and deletion according to best-practices for maintaining regulatory compliance. Anticipate, mitigate, identify, respond to, and resolve problems affecting messaging systems performance, efficiency, and availability. Provide on-call technical support for end users. Support application development teams and software migrations to new e-mail server platforms or newer versions of Exchange. Monitor, test, and analyze e-mail system and server software activities to ensure maximum performance, efficiency, and availability. Assess need for any messaging system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required. Create required reports in response to business needs.
