Current registration with HPCSA as a Specialist in Family Medicine ? Certificate of registration with HPCSA as a Specialist in Family Medicine (2026/2027 receipt) ? All successful candidates will have to spend a minimum of one (01) year in service ? Certificate of service from Current/previous employers stamped by HR must be attached ? Commuted overtime is compulsory. EXPERIENCE & SALARY Medical Specialist Grade 1: R 1 395 528 p.a (All-inclusive package) Experience: No experience required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED ? The incumbent should have clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to that of a specialist family physician. ? Clinical knowledge and skills in the management of chronic and acute medical patients. ? Knowledge and skills in Adult and Paediatric Emergency Resuscitative intervention. ? Demonstrate the ability to supervise and teach junior staff (example students, interns and doctors). ? Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. ? Have sound communication skills. ? Have good negotiation, planning and organizational skills. ? Demonstrate good interpersonal skills. ? Clinical and administrative decision making skills. ASIBE HEALTHY KZN ? Good knowledge, skills and experience in evaluating surgical patients and performing minor district level diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures like tissue biopsy, reduction of simple closed fractures, etc. ? Should have sound knowledge in reproductive health and child health. ? Be able to perform tubal ligature, assisted delivery and caesarean section. ? Should have sound knowledge of the South African relevant clinical guidelines and protocols. ? Basic knowledge and experience in anaesthesia and critical care. ? Sound knowledge in the management of the trauma and poly trauma patient. ? Sound understanding in the principles of management of patients with common orthopaedic conditions like fractures and dislocation. ? Be able to conduct regular clinical audits and undertake quality improvement projects. ? Good leadership skills and computer literate. ? Available to work flexible hours as per operational requirements (day and / or night duty). KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS ? Manage medical outpatients and inpatients and staff clinic in the hospital. ? Participate in after hour call duty in the hospital. ? Develop, monitor and evaluate clinical services to ensure quality assurance and conduct clinical audits. ? Conduct Morbidity/Mortality reviews and clinical audits. ? Manage Complaints and Patient Safety incidents in line with the National guidelines. ? Reduce waiting times in OPD. ? Manage information and ensure performance indicator targets are met. ? Manage data / information and work towards achieving HAST performance targets. ? Participate in the implementation of quality improvement programmes including the Ideal Hospital Realisation and Maintenance (IHRM) framework. ? Ensure that infection control and health and safety standards are maintained at all times. ? Ensure proper management of COT / call roster, leave and attendance register of staff allocated to Family Medicine. ? Ensure proper management of resources such as laboratory services, blood services through laboratory and blood usage committee. ? Assist the Medical Manager in maintaining clinical, professional and ethical standards in the institution. ? Participate in management and administrative duties as delegated by the Medical Manager. ? Involvement in postgraduate and undergraduate support, supervision and training and development in consultation with the Family Medicine Department of UKZN. ? Participate in the academic programme, including research and outreach programme to the communities. ? To initiate, monitor and evaluate community health outreach to our feeder health facilities on a continuous basis. ? Oversight of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Internal Medicine, HAST, Accident and Emergency, Inpatients adults and paediatrics and Outpatients Departments. ? Be able to perform general and regional anaesthesia. ? Be involved in the active supervision and mentorship of students, interns, junior doctors and other clinical staff in the institution. ? Plan and provide continuous medical education to multidisciplinary team members. ? Manage and direct performance of junior staff within the area of control (Manage EPMDS of junior staff). ASIBE HEALTHY KZN ? Perform emergency and elective surgical procedure / operation like caesarean section (c/s), tubal ligature and biopsy, etc. ? Assist Medical Manager in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols in the management of patients. ? To communicate, implement and monitor national clinical guidelines and protocols ensuring optimum care e.g. TB/MDR – TB/HIV AND AIDS AND MENTAL HEALTH GUIDELINES. ? To conduct regular clinical audits and develop quality improvement programmes to improve clinical outcomes and patients satisfaction in the hospital. ? To ensure co-ordination of various clinical and support services so that functions are performed within a multidisciplinary approach to allow for total patient care. ? To liaise with the various referral facilities in the district to ensure continuity of care. ? Conduct detailed studies / research of disease patterns and outcomes at St Mary’s Hospital. ? Manage community based medicine – household profiling, community disease profiling, WBOT, School Health Teams, Community Health Workers door to door, support, etc. ? Monitor enrolment to CCMDD programme. ? Health Patient Registration System. ? Accelerate NHI project. ? Involvement in Sukuma Sakhe activities. ? Participate in information management meetings. ?
