This is a large-scale recruitment drive for Medical Officers to work on a shift system within the Limpopo Department of Health, with a total of 227 vacancies spread across three professional grades. They will perform ward rounds, participate in outreach programmes, and deliver medical services at special events and operations across the province. They must respond to all emergency calls within stipulated times, including during disasters or disaster management situations. Maintaining best clinical practice is central, with an obligation to keep up to date through the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) system as required by the HPCSA. They are responsible for generating and maintaining clinical records to the minimum required standards, participating in the department’s Quality Improvement Programme, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and conducting clinical audits. The role also involves participating in continuing medical education and academic activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Where required, Medical Officers will coordinate clinical responsibilities, supervise, instruct, and train junior Medical Officers and Registrars in designated clinical areas or disciplines. They may also be allocated any other duties by their supervisor, without boundary restrictions, meaning they must be flexible about where and how they work within the province.

The remuneration package is all-inclusive and graded according to the relevant public service structures, with an additional rural allowance payable in line with PSCBC or ISRDS node provisions for qualifying centres. Commuted overtime will be approved by the Accounting Officer based on operational needs and the flexi/shift system.
