RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be responsible for:
• Coordinating Sport Sciences programmes in the Higher Certificate in Sport Sciences online and contact qualifications;
• Providing postgraduate supervision;
• Assisting with the assessment of Work Integrated Learning;
• Course and curriculum development in Sport Sciences;
• Teaching Sport Sciences through hybrid and online modes of delivery;
• Conducting research in the focus areas of the Department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Master’s degree in Human Movement Sciences Education or Sport Sciences or a related field;
• At least 1 year of experience in teaching Sport Sciences;
• Experience in teaching and coordinating fully online courses;
• Evidence of coordinating Sport Sciences courses;
• Experience in community engagement, Work-Integrated Learning or service-learning project related to Education within the last 5 years;
• Experience in academic administration.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
• Ability to engage in teaching and learning at a higher education level;
• Ability to initiate and supervise research at the postgraduate level;
• Ability to initiate a research project;
• Ability to work in a community of scholars and other stakeholders;
• Appropriate language and communication skills in English;
• Formative and summative assessment experience;
• Academic administration experience;
• Community engagement experience;
• Value-based and value-driven person who can set a professional example to students;
• Computer literacy and the ability to work fully online.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
• PhD degree in Human Movement Sciences Education or Sport Sciences or a related field;
• Demonstrated leadership in programme management and coordination;
• Evidence of postgraduate supervision;
• Evidence of research activity over the past two years;
• Proficiency in the educational application of artificial intelligence and digital learning technologies;
• Evidence of organised sport participation.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
