    Requirements

    1 Master’s degree in Physics plus a qualification in education at NQF 7; OR a master’s degree in education with a specialisation in Physics/Physical Science education; OR closely related qualifications that include Physics and education with one of the qualifications at master’s level. Teaching experience in Further Education and Training (FET) phase or higher education institutions. Strong understanding of curriculum development and pedagogical strategies for Physical Science education. Knowledge of blended learning and technology-enhanced teaching methodologies. Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Enrolled for a PhD qualification (added advantage). Minimum of two years of teaching experience in Physics/Physical Science at higher education institutions or schools. Strong understanding of pedagogical methods in Physics/Physical Science. Experience in supervising students' research projects/theses (added advantage). Proven track record of research output and scholarly publications in reputable peer- reviewed journals/conferences (added advantage). Industry experience in Physics/Physical Science (added advantage). Experience in developing and implementing innovative curricula and assessment methods (added advantage). Ability to integrate technology into teaching (e.g., 3D printing, IoT, AI). Ability to integrate hands-on practical training with theoretical instruction. Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to departmental initiatives. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. Excellent communication (written and verbal), organisational, interpersonal skills and planning skills. Commitment to sustainability and innovative practices in higher education.

    Duties

    Key performance areas include but are not limited to: Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical demonstrations with Physics content. Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and assessment methods. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and success. Develop and update curriculum materials aligned with industry and academic standards. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance programme offerings and ensure alignment with institutional goals. Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments. Conduct research in Physical Science education and contribute to academic publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Seek external funding and grants to support research initiatives. Present research findings at academic conferences and engage with the broader educational community. Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in their academic and research pursuits. Collaborate with industry partners to enhance programme relevance and professional opportunities. Participate in faculty meetings, accreditation processes, and quality assurance activities. Stay current with developments in the field of Physics/Physical Science education and engage in continuous professional development. Contribute to the academic community through participation in workshops, seminars, etc. Conduct ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line manager.
