Job Purpose
Applications are specifically invited for teaching in the field of Natural and Life Sciences Education in the Intermediate Phase. Candidates with specific skills in the teaching of Life Sciences as part of Intermediate Phase Education on the Wellington Campus are invited.
Please note that the position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans.

Requirements
A Master’s degree relevant to the teaching of a combination of Life Sciences and Natural Sciences and Technology and the Methodology in Intermediate, Senior or FET Phase Education. A teaching qualification relevant to the teaching of Life Sciences and Natural Sciences and Technology Education. Natural and/or Life Sciences as a major subject at undergraduate level. Two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience at school level. Fluency in English and Afrikaans (BEd tuition in Wellington is through Afrikaans). Recommendations: A relevant Doctoral degree. Exposure to academic teaching methodology at tertiary level. Competence in the pedagogy of technology integration in learning, teaching, and assessment. Evidence of competence in research. Duties
Teaching Life Sciences and Natural Sciences and Technology and the methodology in the Intermediate Phase, including Life Sciences laboratory work and experiments. Curriculum development and development of other learning materials. Supervising students on teaching practice. Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision). Academic administration, development, and administration. Assessment and quality assurance. Learning support for and in multilingual classrooms. Mentoring and support of students (and staff). Teamwork and collaboration. Meticulous planning and organizing skills/Time Management. Networking with schools and other networks. Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and on-line learning). Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
