The Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications for the above position within the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology under its Division of Pharmacology.
The Pharmacology Division is committed to employ experts and professionals to advance the teaching and research of pharmacology in line with the Department, School and Faculty strategies.
The Department interfaces with national and international societies and healthcare bodies and provides scientific and medical support. The applicants will need to contribute to the academic
and research endeavours of the University, conduct innovative research, and assist to enhance the teaching and research of Pharmacology integrated with all healthcare professions serviced by the
Department through the Division.
The Department is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate in a full-time Clinical Pharmacology Lecturer post who will make a major contribution to the teaching, administration and clinical
research activities. The position is a 100% post with a competitive remuneration package.
Key responsibilities include the following:
? Teaching and learning responsibilities including lecturing all aspects of Clinical Pharmacology
? Performing administrative duties in the Division, Department, School, Faculty, University
? Undertaking research in either Basic/Clinical Pharmacology
? Supervision of undergraduate/postgraduate students in research and academic teaching
? Secure research grants to establish and maintain a niche area
Requirements:
? Minimum qualification: BPharm with a MPharm/PCDT or a MBBCh with/without MMed
(Clinical Pharmacology).
? A PhD (Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacology) would be an advantage.
? Minimum 2 years clinical and teaching experience in Pharmacology at a tertiary and/or
clinic/hospital level.
? Research and supervisory experience at a tertiary level.
? Registered as a practicing medical doctor / pharmacist with HPCSA / SAPC.
The successful applicant should be available to assume duties on 1 October 2026.
