Purpose of the Job:
To oversee, manage and direct litigation matters in the litigation Unit of the Office of the General Counsel. The person appointed will report to the General Counsel.
Key Performance Areas:
•Manage, oversee and direct litigation initiated by and against the FSCA, ensuring the provision of effective litigation support.
•Manage the process for procuring legal service providers for the FSCA.
•Render in-house general counsel services to the FSCA including furnishing of opinions on interpretation of legislation.
•Provide comments on draft legislation and reports as needed.
•Participate in FSCA decision-making regarding the enforcement and supervisory mandate to mitigate litigation risks.
•Provide specialist public law related research, advice and counsel to the FSCA.
•Assist General Counsel in attending committee meetings and drafting reports when required.
•Provide strategic guidance regarding all litigation matters and the transfer of practical litigation skills to all members of the Litigation Unit.

Requirements
An LLB or LLM degree. Admitted attorney or advocate with about 15 years of practical litigation experience. Knowledge and experience in civil litigation practice, including drafting court papers, legal documents, conducting legal research and providing legal advice. Experience in and knowledge of constitutional and/or administrative law will be an advantage. Experience in the regulation of the financial services industry and understanding of financial sector laws will be an advantage. Closing Date: 14 September 2026.
