Remuneration

Competencies (knowledge/skills)
Good numerical skills. Knowledge of and the ability to interpret the Western Cape Government Linen Management Policy. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge and understanding of laundry and linen policies and Hygiene and Safety standards. Good communication skills.
Duties (key result areas/outputs)
Supervision and control of the daily operations of the laundry section. Supervise and record of dispatched linen from the linen bank to the hospital wards. Supervision of laundry processing and maintenance services. Check and monitor condition of laundry machine equipment. Supervise and monitor cleaning of laundry equipment in line with environmental health and safety standards. Supervision of human and physical resources. Guide and mentor staff on the provision of laundry services. Conduct performance reviews of staff on the Staff Performance system (PERMIS) Assist with in service training of staff. Effective quality control and supervision of the laundry services. Perform pre-condemning of linen and report irregularities to the Line Manager. Implementation of infection control and waste management in the laundry unit. Ensure effective control and effective management of data/stats in the laundry unit. Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and- proper linen handling.
Experience
Appropriate experience in laundry and linen environment.

The ability to work public holidays and overtime when required. The ability to deal with diversity in culture and attitudes. Ability to work under pressure, perform physically demanding tasks and to handle heavy objects.
Minimum educational qualification
General education and Training Certificate (GETC) Grade 9 (Std 7).
