Laundry Aid (Permanent position)

This permanent position of Laundry Aid is based at Robertson Hospital in the Langeberg Sub-district, within the Cape Winelands Health District of the Western Cape Department of Health. Working under the supervision of a supervisor, the Laundry Aid ensures that clean, properly sorted linen is available to wards and other units, while also maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control throughout the laundry process. A valid driver's licence is required, as the incumbent will be expected to transport linen to and from the central laundry and other facilities. Physical fitness is essential, as the job involves pushing heavy linen trolleys, loading and offloading heavy linen bags weighing 25 kilograms or more, and standing for extended periods. The ability to hear and speak clearly is also required, along with the capacity to sort, sluice, and count both dirty and fouled linen accurately. Knowledge of stock control and infection prevention principles is important, as is good verbal and written communication skills.

The main duties of the Laundry Aid include providing a professional linen service to the institution, ensuring effective and efficient stock control, and maintaining a safe and hygienic working area. The incumbent will also provide general support within the support services team, adhere to loyal service ethics, and assist the supervisor with various tasks as needed.
