The Government Printing Works (GPW) invites unemployed graduates who are South African citizens to apply for a 24-month Graduate Programme internship in Knowledge Management, based in Pretoria. This position forms part of the 2027/2029 internship intake and is designed to give successful applicants meaningful workplace exposure and structured training aligned with their academic backgrounds. As an intern, you will be placed within a specific area of the organisation where you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, gaining practical skills that complement your studies. The programme is aimed at equipping graduates with hands-on experience in a government environment, and it is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to build a career in information and records management.

To be considered for this internship, applicants must hold a National Diploma or Degree in Information Science, Information Management, or Records Management. It is essential that candidates are unemployed, are South African citizens, and have not previously participated in any internship programme. Applicants must disclose any prior internship participation honestly, as failure to do so will lead to immediate termination of the contract on grounds of dishonesty and undue enrichment. Candidates with foreign qualifications must have their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) before applyingaine.

The core duties of this role involve active participation in workplace activities, projects, and capacity-building initiatives as part of the structured internship programme. Interns will be exposed to real-world knowledge management tasks, including the handling, organisation, and preservation of information and records, in line with the placement area's requirements. Throughout the 24-month period, you will receive ongoing training and mentorship, allowing you to develop professional competencies and a thorough understanding of how knowledge management functions within a public sector institution. You will be expected to engage fully with the assigned work, collaborate with colleagues, and take responsibility for your own learning and development.

Applicants must submit their applications using the new Z83 form, obtainable from any Public Service Department or online, and must clearly indicate the correct job title and reference number in the email subject line. Each advertised post requires its own completed, signed, and initialled Z83 form. Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide certified copies of qualifications and related documents before the interview. Applications submitted via fax or using the old Z83 form will not be accepted, and late applications will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates must be available for interviews at a date and time determined by GPW, and personnel suitability checks will be conducted as part of the selection process. Successful candidates will be required to enter into an employment contract and performance agreement. By applying, you consent to the collection, processing, and storing of your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and your details will be used solely for recruitment purposes. If you do not receive a response within three months of the closing date, you may assume your application was unsuccessful. The Government Printing Works reserves the right to fill or not fill the advertised post.
