The Office of the Chief Justice is offering a structured internship opportunity at its Western Cape Provincial Service Centre, aimed at a recent graduate seeking practical experience in the public administration and justice environment. This internship forms part of the broader internship programme for the 2026 intake and provides a single placement for a candidate who meets the educational requirements. The successful intern will be based in the Western Cape and will work within the service centre that supports the administrative and operational functions of the judiciary. The programme is designed to give the intern hands-on exposure to office management, business administration, and public administration processes in a government setting, while contributing to the efficient delivery of services.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate and a three-year National Diploma in Public Administration, Office Management, or Business Administration at NQF level 6 with 360 credits, or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA. This ensures that the intern has the necessary theoretical foundation to perform the duties assigned. While the specific duties are not itemised in the advertisement, the internship is intended to provide practical experience in line with the qualification. The intern will be placed under supervision and will be assigned administrative and office management tasks that support the service centre’s operations. This may include document processing, record keeping, customer liaison, and general office coordination, consistent with the outcomes of the relevant National Diploma. The intern will be expected to apply their knowledge in a real-world environment, work collaboratively with colleagues, and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Office of the Chief Justice.
Applicants should note that this is a government internship, and the recruitment process is strictly regulated. All applications must be submitted on the new Z83 application form, accompanied by a comprehensive CV, and must be sent in PDF format as a single folder. The application must indicate the correct job title, the office where the position is advertised, and the reference number. Failure to complete, sign, and initial the form will result in disqualification. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and they will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications before the interview. Shortlisted candidates will also undergo two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise to test technical and generic suitability, and an integrity assessment. A personnel suitability check will be conducted, which may include criminal record, financial, qualification, citizenship, social media, reference, and employment verification. The successful candidate will be required to enter into an employment contract and a performance agreement within three months of appointment, and to undergo a security clearance. The Office of the Chief Justice complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act, and all personal information provided will be used solely for recruitment purposes. If no response is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should consider their application unsuccessful. The department reserves the right not to make an appointment.
This internship is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain valuable workplace experience in the judicial sector, develop professional skills, and contribute to the public service. Candidates who meet the qualifications and are committed to integrity and ethical conduct are encouraged to apply.
