POST: Internal Auditor Supervisor (Lieutenant Colonel) LOCATION: Internal Audit, Risk Based & Compliance Audit, Free State Province LEVEL OF REMUNERATION: Band D, R602 232 per annum REFERENCES: IA03/06/2026 (1 post) Generic Requirements: • Applicants must display competency in the core functions of the post. • Be proficient in at least English and one other official language. • Be a citizen of the Republic of South Africa of which documentary proof must be furnished on the day of interview. • Be in possession of at least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence. • Must have no previous criminal / departmental convictions or criminal / departmental cases pending. • Must not have any tattoo marks which will be visible when wearing any uniform of the Service. • Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification. Additional Requirements: • Be in possession of a three (3) year Diploma or Degree (NQF level 6 or higher as recognized by SAQA), in Internal Auditing/ Audit, Internal Auditing, Risk Management and Accounting as major subjects as well as the related field of study. • Have a minimum of 5 years auditing experience, of which 3 years should be on the Supervisory level of Captain/Internal Auditor or equivalent. Highly proficient in the use of computer (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft outlook). • Membership of IIA or any other relevant professional organisation forms part of requirement, and proof of valid registration for 2026/2027 must be submitted. Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: • Good knowledge of Public Service Act and Regulations, PFMA and Treasury Regulations. Good communication (written and verbal), Presentation skills, Managing and leadership skills, ability to work under pressure for extended hours. • Experience in project management and budget management. • Strong leadership, mentoring and coaching strategic thinking, problem-solving. *Strong negotiating/ analytical/ good interpersonal skills. • Ability to work in a team. • Good audit engagement planning skills. • Will be expected to travel extensively. • Studying towards a relevant post graduate degree CIA, CGAP, CFE or CCSA, use of Team Mate will serve as an advantage. Core Functions: • Supervise and execute internal audit work and consultancy engagements to support the implementation of the Internal Audit Operational Plan, providing assurance on governance, risk management and control processes in accordance with IIA SA Standards and legislative framework, functionally supervise and participate in the development of strategic internal audit plans. • Supervise assistance to and assist the accounting officer in maintaining efficient and effective controls and achieving the objectives of the department by evaluating the department’s controls/objectives, to determine their effectiveness and efficiency through internal audits. • Review, collect information, compile reports to the accounting officer, and audit committee. • Keep up to date with new developments in the internal audit environment; Administratively supervise employees to ensure an effective internal audit service.
