    The Risk Chairperson will assist the Executive Committee in discharging oversight responsibilities in ensuring effective risk management processes throughout SAWS and in accordance with terms of reference developed and guidelines from the public sector risk management framework, PFMA, AND Treasury Regulation.

    Requirements

    Applicants must have a recognised university degree in Commerce majoring in Risk Management or Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management and Membership in a recognised professional body IRMSA or ACFE or CISA). Attributes: Good communication skills, independent judgement, independence, integrity, objectivity, reliability, sound knowledge of public sector environment, strong leadership skills. Must have served as chairperson of the Risk Management Committee before. Integrity and professionalism Diligence and accountability Ability to work under pressure Strong interpersonal and stakeholder?management skills Good judgment and decision?making capabilities Sound knowledge of compliance management, applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and governance frameworks Understanding of business continuity management, disaster recovery, and organisational resilience Term of Office and Remuneration The remuneration shall be in line with the Accounting Authority-approved remuneration policy aligned to National Treasury remuneration directives. The term of office of the appointed candidate will be for three (3) years.

    Duties

    Convene and preside over quarterly meetings of the Risk Management Committee (RMC); Provide leadership to the RMC and ensure the smooth functioning of the Committee; Review the risk management policy and strategy and recommend for approval by the Audit and Risk Committee; Document Reference HCM.ADV 001.1 Public Document Page 1 of 4 Advertisement Private Bag X097, Pretoria, 0001 Tel: + 27 (0) 12 367 6000 www.weathersa.co.za USSD: *120*7297# Review the risk appetite and tolerance and recommend for approval by the Audit and Risk Committee Review the fraud prevention and whistle-blowing policies as well as relevant strategies for approval by the Audit and Risk Committee; Review goals, objectives, outcomes, and key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the risk management activity within the organisation; Evaluate the extent and effectiveness of the integration of risk management within the organisation. Assess the implementation of the risk management policy and strategy, including plans; Evaluate the effectiveness of the mitigating strategies implemented to address the material risk of the organisation; Review the material findings and recommendations by assurance providers on the system of risk management and monitoring the implementation of such recommendations; Provide quarterly reports to the Accounting Authority via the Audit and Risk Committee, on the state of risk management, together with accompanying recommendations to address any inefficiency identified by the Committee. Submit quarterly Reports to the Audit and Risk Committee Oversee compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and governance frameworks, including monitoring management’s implementation of compliance risk mitigation actions; Review and provide oversight on business continuity management, disaster recovery readiness, and organisational resilience arrangements to ensure continuity of critical services;
