Requirements:
National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
Valid industry certifications such as MCSA/MCSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Veeam, VMware, or CompTIA Network+/Security+ are highly advantageous.
3 years of relevant experience within a public sector or local government framework.
Valid driver's licence
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain the municipality's Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), wireless links, routers, switches, and firewalls to ensure optimal uptime.
Monitor physical and virtual server environments (Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V), Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise email systems.
Implement robust cybersecurity controls, monitor firewall logs, monitor anti-malware deployments, and execute daily backup schedules and disaster recovery protocols using tools like Veeam.
Provide technical backend administration for localized municipal software packages (e.g., mSCOA-compliant financial systems, HR databases, and electronic document management systems).
Diagnose and resolve complex network bottlenecks, hardware failures, and connectivity issues; maintain comprehensive documentation of network topology and IT assets.
• Liaise with telecommunications service providers and ICT vendors to ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for fibre lines and hardware maintenance.
