The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) is offering a graduate internship opportunity for five Human Resource Management and Development interns within its Corporate Management Support Services directorate, based at the MISA Head Office in Centurion, Pretoria. This internship forms part of the 2026 to 2028 Graduate Internship Programme and is aimed at South African unemployed graduates who wish to gain practical experience in the public service human resource environment. The position is a once-off opportunity per qualification, meaning that candidates who have previously participated in any internship programme in the public service will not be considered. Successful applicants will be placed within the HRM&D component and will work under the supervision of experienced HR professionals, contributing to the delivery of corporate management support services.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a National Diploma (NQF 6) or a Degree (NQF 7) in Human Resource Management or Human Resource Development. This is the core educational requirement, and candidates must ensure that their qualification is aligned with the field. The application process requires a fully completed and signed Z83 form, obtainable from the Department of Public Service and Administration website, along with a recent comprehensive CV that includes contactable referees with telephone numbers and email addresses. Applicants are not required to submit certified copies of qualifications or other documents at the application stage; however, shortlisted candidates will be required to produce certified qualifications and proof of permanent residence. All shortlisted candidates will also be subjected to personnel suitability checks, including verification of criminal records, citizenship, financial records, and qualifications.
The role of the intern will involve supporting the human resource management and development functions of the directorate. This includes assisting with recruitment and selection processes, maintaining HR records and administration, supporting training and development programmes, and helping with employee performance management and related HR initiatives. The intern will gain exposure to the broader public service HR policy framework and will be expected to perform duties as delegated by the supervisor, contributing to the efficient functioning of the HRM&D unit. The internship is designed to provide meaningful workplace experience and to develop the competencies of the graduate in preparation for a career in human resource management.
The position offers a monthly stipend for the duration of the internship. The successful candidate will be required to enter into an employment contract and a performance agreement within three months of appointment, and to complete a financial interest declaration within one month of appointment and annually thereafter. Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only, and if no feedback is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should accept that their application was unsuccessful. Applications must quote the relevant reference number and be submitted through the email address provided in the advertisement. For further enquiries, applicants may contact the named officials at MISA or the recruitment agency. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent HR graduate to launch a career in the public service.
