This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the human resource operations of the Western Cape Government, specifically within the Department of the Premier. As a Human Resource Clerk focused on talent sourcing, you will be part of a team responsible for attracting, shortlisting, and placing suitable candidates across various departmental needs. The role is a clerical and administrative one, situated at salary level 05, and is available in multiple positions, indicating a broader recruitment drive within the department. You will work within the established recruitment and selection frameworks of the provincial government, ensuring that processes are followed accurately and efficiently.
To be considered for this role, you must have a Grade 12 Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification. Beyond the formal qualification, the department is looking for candidates who already possess a working knowledge of the e-recruitment system and the broader human resource or recruitment environment. This is not an entry-level role for someone entirely unfamiliar with HR practices; rather, it requires a practical understanding of how recruitment workflows operate. Proven computer literacy in MS Word and Excel is essential, as you will be expected to manage databases, capture data, and produce documents and spreadsheets. Strong planning and organising skills are also required, along with effective written and verbal communication. You will need to interact with various stakeholders, so good interpersonal skills are vital. The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is another key requirement, given the cyclical and time-sensitive nature of recruitment processes.
Your main duties will revolve around supporting the talent sourcing function from start to finish. You will liaise with relevant stakeholders, which may include hiring managers, candidates, and external bodies, to ensure smooth communication throughout the recruitment cycle. General HR administration forms a core part of the job, meaning you will handle documentation, maintain records, and support the team with day-to-day administrative tasks. Database management is another critical responsibility, as you will need to keep candidate information and recruitment data accurate and up to date. You will also be required to capture and update expenditure within the component, which suggests a role in monitoring budgets or costs associated with recruitment activities. Finally, you will apply and uphold the recruitment and selection policies and procedures of the Western Cape Government, ensuring that every step of the process is compliant and consistent.
There are several important conditions attached to this vacancy. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department. Before the interview, they must submit duly completed and signed vetting and supporting documentation within a specified timeframe; failure to do so without reasonable justification may result in disqualification from the process. All shortlisted candidates will also undergo two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise testing technical and generic suitability for the post, and an integrity assessment focused on ethical conduct. The selection process will be guided by the employment equity targets of the department, so candidates should be aware that transformation considerations apply. By applying, you consent to the Western Cape Government contacting your previous employers or managers for reference checks, which will include enquiries about your disciplinary record and reasons for leaving previous positions. This is a role for someone who is organised, discreet, and ready to support a busy public-sector HR environment.
