FACULTY OF ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND QUANTITY SURVEYING HEAD OF DEPARTMENT (P5) – Ref: EQ01 FIVE-YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT (Renewable once, however the incumbent may be absorbed into the academic staff at a requisite level if an opportunity exists) Key Performance Areas: • Leadership and strategic direction • Academic Administration • Personnel, Financial and asset management • Teaching and learning and quality assurance • Research, Innovation and Engagement Minimum Requirements: • Appropriate PhD/Doctoral Degree in Construction Management/Building/Quantity Surveying. • Have served as a Senior Lecturer for at least five years at a university level. • At least three years of administration work at a departmental level. • A proven track record in research (minimum of 5 articles published in DHET- accredited journals). • Membership of relevant academic/professional bodies/associations. Competencies: • Leadership and management • Programme development • Knowledge of quality assurance, Higher Education Policies • Frameworks/Sub-Framework • Strategic planning and implementation • Academic and professional standing in the field of expertise, and academic credibility amongst peers • Ability to supervise postgraduate students • Strategic planning and implementation exposure • Exposure to curriculum development Retirement Age: The retirement age is 65 years. Five-year performance-based contract with the expectation of the successful incumbent to be able to serve the full five-year term. Salary Scale: R970 044.00 – R1 333 150.00 basic salary per annum.
