Western TVET College is advertising four permanent Financial Aid and Bursary Officer posts, one for each of its Carletonville, Krugersdorp, Krugersdorp West, and Randfontein campuses. These positions, which are PERSAL appointments, are central to the day-to-day management of student funding at campus level. The successful candidates will coordinate student bursary schemes and provide comprehensive financial aid administrative support, ensuring that all applications and disbursements are handled accurately and in line with the relevant regulatory frameworks. The role operates within the broader context of the college’s commitment to enabling access to education through the effective administration of NSFAS funding, funder agreements, and other financial aid mechanisms.
To be considered, applicants must hold a Matric or Grade 12 certificate as well as a recognised three-year National Diploma or Degree in Financial Management, Accounting, or a related qualification. A minimum of two to three years of relevant work experience in bursary or financial aid services is required, along with computer literacy and a valid driver’s licence. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of financial functions and practices, the ability to capture data and collate financial statistics, and knowledge of Public Service financial legislation, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, NSFAS guidelines, and financial management principles. Familiarity with basic financial application systems is also expected, as are good verbal and written communication skills, numeracy, accuracy, flexibility, and the ability to perform routine tasks and operate office equipment.
The main duties of the role are varied and detail-oriented. Officers will administer bursary and financial aid application processes for their campus, review applications for financial aid, and analyse NSFAS provisionally funded students. They will coordinate the authorisation of disbursement funds and facilitate other financial aid schemes, while also reporting on all bursary and financial aid allocations to the financial aid committee and other stakeholders. A key responsibility is the timeous upload of all student bursary applications onto the NSFAS portal, including the submission of any additional information or documents required by NSFAS. Officers must also reconcile upload data on NSFAS with Pastel and Coltech on a monthly basis and follow up on all outstanding matters.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise to determine suitability for the technical and generic requirements of the post, and an integrity assessment. Successful candidates will be subjected to vetting and financial disclosure processes, including verification of criminal records, citizenship, qualifications, and employment history. Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation report. All applications must include a signed and fully completed Z83 form and a comprehensive CV with at least three contactable references; incomplete Z83 forms will be disqualified. Western TVET College is an equal opportunities employer and encourages people with disabilities to apply. The college reserves the right not to fill these posts, and applicants who have not been contacted within six months of the closing date should consider their applications unsuccessful.
