KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Financial Management
- Develops, sets up and maintains financial systems and procedures to ensure that proper accounting and systems of internal control are maintained.
- Leads the divisional budget preparation processes for mid-year and annual budgets.
- Compiles monthly financial management reports and submits to operations management.
- Ensures timeous processing, reconciliation and reporting of financial information to management and the Finance BU.
- Maintains up-to-date cash flow projections for the current accounting year
- Provides input into financial policies and procedures thereby contributing to the development and maintenance of company policies.
- Contributes to the development of effective risk management for the VACC and BWBH.
- Manages and controls financial aspects of the Wage Bureau payroll.
- Ensures compliance with internal policies as well as relevant laws and regulations.
- Manages the release of payments.
Debtors and Creditors Control
- Develops a debt collection system in accordance with the Credit Control and Debt Collection Policy.
- Manages the debt collection processes and develops system improvements in order to create efficiencies.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Conducts effective engagements with internal and external stakeholders.
- Negotiates the availability of funds when budgets are unavailable.
- Conducts service negotiations for key supplier accounts.
- Handles and resolves queries.
Reporting
- Co-ordinates the preparation and submission of divisional quarterly reports.
- Conducts ongoing risk management.
People Management
- Manages subordinates in line with company policies.
- Fosters a suitable and supportive environment conducive to staff development and the achievement of Departmental objectives.
- Implements staff development and training to achieve the unit and organisational objectives.
- Develops annual performance plans and assigns works in accordance with plans to staff members.
- Implements performance management and monitors the performance of subordinate staff.
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of subordinate staff.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications Essential Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Commerce / Finance with majors in Accounting / Taxation / Management Accounting / Auditing, any related or equivalent field. Preferred None. Experience Essential 5 years’ experience as a Financial Manager or in a Financial Management environment. Proven experience in financial accounting responsibilities. Hands on experience in presenting financial information to management. Preferred Experience in residential property management / hospitality. Competencies Essential Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations Knowledge of SCM policies and regulations in the public sector Highly analytical Attention to detail Ability to work independently with minimum supervision Good communication skills Results driven Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel. Preferred None. Licences, Registrations & Certifications Essential None. Preferred Professional registration will be an advantage.
