    Job Purpose

    The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to oversee the execution of routine farming activities.

    Minimum Requirements

    Senior certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification); A minimum of 1 year relevant experience; A valid (Code 8) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.

    Key Performance Areas

    Oversee the execution of routine activities in respect of crop production; Oversee the execution of routine activities in respect of livestock; Oversee the execution of general farm routine activities; Oversee the execution of general routine activities in respect of infrastructure and Perform all administrative and related functions.

    Competencies

    Knowledge and good understanding of the following: Livestock management record keeping; Technical expertise and knowledge in crop production methods  irrigation, planting and fertilization; Infrstructure maintenance  Building of new fences and pipelines; Equipment maintenance; Skills in the following: Computer literacy in MS Office Package ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Communication (written and verbal); Staff supervision; Operational management; Problem-solving; Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
