The Government Printing Works (GPW) is offering a 24-month graduate internship in Enterprise Risk Management, based in Pretoria. This internship is part of the organisation’s Graduate Programme for the 2027/2029 financial year and is intended to provide unemployed graduates with valuable work experience and structured training. The successful candidate will be placed within the enterprise risk management unit, where they will be expected to actively participate in workplace activities, support relevant projects, and take part in capacity-building initiatives under the guidance of experienced professionals. Through this placement, the intern will gain practical exposure to how risk is managed in a government printing environment, while developing professional competencies that will enhance their future employability.

To qualify, applicants must have a National Diploma or Degree in Risk Management, Law, Business Management, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. They must be South African citizens and must not have previously participated in an internship programme. Failure to disclose any prior participation will result in immediate termination of the internship contract on grounds of dishonesty and undue enrichment. Candidates who hold foreign qualifications must have them evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). It is also essential that applicants are currently unemployed at the time of application.

The internship is structured to offer meaningful exposure and training aligned with the candidate’s academic background. The intern will be supervised by experienced professionals and will be expected to contribute to the work of the enterprise risk management unit, including participating in workplace activities and projects. Attendance and active involvement in training and capacity-building initiatives are key parts of the programme. The role will help the intern understand the practical application of risk management principles within the public sector.

Applicants must follow the submission requirements carefully. This includes using the prescribed application form, completing it in full, signing it, and submitting it to the correct address or email as indicated in the advertisement. The job title and reference number must be placed in the email subject line. Documents in formats such as pictures, snapshots, zipped files, IMG or JPEG will not be accepted. Applications that are late, incomplete, or submitted on the incorrect application form will be disqualified. Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other relevant documents before the interview. The department does not accept applications by fax, and correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates. If a candidate has not heard from the institution within three months of the closing date, the application should be considered unsuccessful. Successful candidates will be required to enter into an employment contract and performance agreement, and personnel suitability checks will be conducted as part of the process. By applying, candidates consent to the collection, processing and storage of their personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act. The Government Printing Works also reserves the right to fill or not fill the post.
