Enrolled Nursing Assistant (Re-Advertisement)

The Department of Health, based at Kopanong Hospital, is re-advertising a number of positions for the role of Enrolled Nursing Assistant within its Nursing Directorate. This is a clinical support role within a public hospital environment, where successful candidates will work as part of a nursing team delivering basic patient care. Applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate as well as a post-school qualification that enables registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant. A current registration receipt with SANC is mandatory. Beyond formal qualifications, candidates should demonstrate elementary communication and writing skills in order to interact with patients, record information, and liaise with team members. The ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential, as is flexibility to work shifts, rotate through different wards or units, and adapt to the changing demands of a hospital setting.

The main responsibilities of the post centre on the provision of basic nursing care in accordance with the scope of practice defined by SANC. This includes maintaining patient hygiene, assisting with nutrition, and supporting patient mobility. Under the supervision of a Professional Nurse, the enrolled nursing assistant will assist the team with clinical procedures used for diagnosis and patient management. They are expected to demonstrate a basic understanding of nursing legislation and ethical practices, and to maintain the public service code of conduct at all times. In addition, the role involves escorting patients to clinical procedures both within and outside the institution, ensuring a safe environment for patients and team members, and using resources effectively and efficiently.
