PTY LIMITED HUMAN CAPITAL EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT FOR A VACANCY ENGINEERING MANAGER PHALABORWA 03 August 2026 Circular no. 1501/2026 POSITION: 2 x Engineering Manager 4835 & 4836 (Process and Mining) DIVISION Mining Division - Phalaborwa DEPARTMENT: Maintenance and Projects GRADING: SML C/C: 20530000 & 20914000 PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To effectively manage, control and ensure that an effective service is rendered to other departments who are internal customers as well as manage the Concentrate Handling section to meet the needs of Marketing and external customers QUALIFICATION(S) AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • Degree/ National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering • Valid Government Certificate of competency (Mines & Works) • Post graduate Management Qualification will be an advantage Experience: • 10 years’ experience in the Mining Industry some of which must be in managerial positions. • Experience in TMMs, Crushing and Process Plants. • Proven experience in developing and implementing mining engineering strategies and best practices. • In-depth knowledge of mining regulatory requirements and standards. HEADLINE KEY RESULT AREAS: • Management of Operations and Strategy - Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, providing technical expertise and strategic direction for engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring safe and efficient operation at the mine. Develop and implement engineering strategies, policies, and procedures. Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Collaborate with other departments to develop integrated engineering solutions that enable the achievement of production targets and operational goals. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas of improvement and recommend appropriate actions. • Budgeting and Management of Financial Resources - Conduct annual budgets for the engineering departments (Capex & Opex). Manage and control the engineering & maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources • Compliance to SHEQ Standard - Ensure adherence to Mine Health and Safety Act and regulations, other applicable Acts and regulations, and overall legal compliance as a 2.13.1 appointee. Continuously promote and enforce safety protocols and standards, ensuring compliance and a strong safety culture across engineering activities. • Governance and Management of Projects - Collaborate with engineering teams and the Capital Projects Department, develop a long-term plan for the engineering department (5-10 years) focusing on new equipment/technology, refurbishments, upgrades, and replacements. Collaborate with the Capital Projects Department in preparing the Capex Budget. Support development of project scopes including review by internal committee (Bids Specification Committee) • Leading and Management of Human Resources - Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance evaluation. Collaborate with the HR Department in driving recruitment within the department and ensuring that competent employees are appointed. Collaborate with the training and development in identifying training needs and in recommending and driving training within the department.
